Self- Reflection

This year a huge improvement has come in our reorganization of our classroom and the development of a system. We have organized all of our student’s materials and created binders for each student which include pre-planned lessons and an accumulation of all their work. This allows for us to better keep track of their progress and maintain a portfolio of their work. A goal we had for the special education program was to better develop a system that others that add to our team could follow and so there could be consistency in everything we do. We have not only found the student binders increased our efficiency and being more prepared but creating a system for our processes has also lead to success. Through this reorganization process I was able to see what styles of activities and lessons suited my students best and also which ones was not the right fit for their learning. For example, it became apparent that a two page passage was not appropriate for my second grade student that struggled with comprehension. As well as, a worksheet with 50 repeated addition problems for a first grader with a learning disability.
