Assessment

The form of assessments that I administer to my students are in the form of progress monitoring. We spend our session’s together working on activities and lesson that build a skill set in which these children are deficient in. Then to track their growth I assess the skills we have been striving to develop. The monitoring methods change from child to child and also on the skills. My go to method is a teacher made data sheet, I include the date,, the skill or goal that is being assessed, and their success. Their success can include the total number they achieved, the trials successful out of the trials attempted, or a number that correlates to an amount correct. I would rate myself as a 6, I feel in this area there is room for improvement. I feel as if my rate of progress monitoring and assessing is consistent and strong, however I am aware that my techniques for tracking can be developed. I believe that implementing other tracking methods and organization could potentially boost my rating or a 6 to a 10!

When assessing my students the data that is collected then is used for many things. We use this information to inform parents via progress reports at the growth of their child. We also use it to evaluate the student’s goals and if they are meeting their goals consistently then it’s time to move on to the next level. This data is also used to see what materials, manipulative, and lessons are working for each individual child and if modifications need to be made for greater success. When the time comes for a student to be exited from Special Education Services, this data is also used as evidence and support for decisions that will be made.
